Saab - 92B - 1955
A Saab 92, the forerunner of all Saab models. When have you ever seen one of these? This car cannot be missing from any collection. From its first owner, demonstrable.
Very unique and original Saab 92 B De Luxe, built in 1955 and first registered in 1956. Currently the car is not drivable, though the engine is loose, and it can run on an external fuel tank.
The car has Swedish registration. If required, the car can be delivered with an EU export document at no extra cost, which will allow a foreign buyer to easily register the Saab. An authentic car with loads of charisma.
Characteristics:
2 cylinder, 2-stroke engine, 28 hp.
Steering gear and non-synchronised 3-speed free-wheel gearbox.
Drum brakes all-round.
Split windscreen.
Flap indicator lights.
Various parts are included.
A bit of history about this remarkable car:
An exceptionally good Saab 92 with only one owner since it was new. The Saab has been sitting unused in its first owner's garage for the past 42 years.
The car is being sold as part of the estate of this gentleman, who used it until 1981 by which time he probably felt that it was getting too old. At one point, he reportedly went to a Saab dealer in Uppsala to buy a new Saab 99. Since the dealer would not trade it in or offered too low a price for the old Saab, the owner resolutely turned to a nearby Vauxhall dealer.
The Saab could not be traded in. So, he purchased a new Opel Kadett, one from the first year with a front-wheel drive. The Opel is still at the estate, but is barely salvageable due to rust problems, while the Saab only has some minor rust issues. The Saab was truly a product that emerged from thinking about aviation quality.
The seller has many Swedish contacts and can help supplying parts. Old documentation available.
Transport is available at very competitive rates.
The car can be viewed in Hengevelde, the Netherlands.
