Jo Niemeyer - Kurt Naef – Wooden Puzzle/sculpture – Modulon, 1984

The Modulon puzzle / sculpture was designed by Jo Niemeyer and made by Kurt Naef game manufacturer in Switzerland.

The Modulon cube is designed according to the so-called Golden Section / Golden Ratio.

Consists of 16 blocks in the basic colors white, black, blue, yellow and red.

Is complete with black lacquered wooden storage box.

In good condition. Unused item with no signs of wear. The original cardboard box has plenty of wear marks, as the box has done its job in storage, protecting the wooden box itself inside. The manual has some spots on the cover.

Kurt Naef's games are the "Rolls Royce" of wooden games. In a fast-moving and electronically oriented time, they maintain their permanent position in the marketplace with timeless design-loving and high-quality workmanship. The wide range of products primarily consists of puzzles and games of skill, which enable the player to experience and train in spatial imagination, geometric principles, and coordination.

The Naef game Modulon celebrates the golden ratio with this artful set of sixteen hand-carved building blocks of six different sizes. The lengths of their sides correlate with each other in the relationship of the golden ratio known from painting, which fascinates artists and mathematicians alike.

The building blocks come assembled as a perfect cube in a valuable wooden box with a sliding lid. When playfully experimenting with lithos, the abstract logic of the golden ratio becomes an immediate creative experience. The well-thought-out color scheme also plays a role here, which makes us immediately think of the constructivist Piet Mondrian.

ABOUT NAEF: 
The Swiss cabinetmaker and furniture builder Kurt Naef began to produce his timeless, high-quality wooden games in the late 1950s, developing them on his own and with designers. He reproduced a number of classic games by celebrated designers of the Bauhaus. Naef's games are represented in the collections of important museums, for example in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and in Japan.

The design language of minimalism and functionality runs through the entire Naef assortment. Naef stands for top-class toys made of wood fascinating both children and adults.

In the last 6 decades, Naef Spiele AG widened its range of products through collaboration with well-known designers such as Jo Niemeyer, Peer Clahsen, Verner Panton, Xavier de Clippeleir, and Yasuo Aizawa, among others.
