Albert Carel Willink (1900–1983), Vrouw, an etching in Realism, edition 241/270, 70 × 50 cm, signed on the plate, in good condition, country of origin the Netherlands.
Description from the seller
A magnificent work by Willink. Signed and numbered on the plate.
Carel Willink was a Dutch painter. He is regarded as the leading painter of magical realism, a painting style that, with light, color, form and depth, creates an alienating atmosphere. The scenes appear real, but are possible only in the imagination. Willink himself did not like the label 'magical realism'; he preferred to call it 'imaginary realism', the painting of the imagination as realistically as possible. In his paintings Willink combined technical perfection, photorealism and an extreme attention to detail with a threatening, mysterious and unreal atmosphere.
