To mark the 75th anniversary of the legendary jazz label Blue Note, Lannoo Publishers is launching a beautifully designed work.
Four hundred pages of color print tell the history (of the founders) of the recording company, starting in pre-war Germany, through the early beginnings in the late 1940s in the United States, and then dwelling extensively on the period 1950-1970, the artistic peak of s the world's most influential publisher of jazz music.
Each chapter is richly provided with photo material: historical documents, atmospheric photos and the artists themselves are extensively discussed. After each decade, author Richard Havers places the most important records from that period in the spotlight by means of a short description, information about the line-up and, of course, a reproduction of the often legendary record covers.
The Dutch translation is particularly easy to read and the large pages do full justice to the beautiful, artistic photos.
