Antique Copper Repoussé Wall Plaque — Dancing Couple — Flemish Street Scene — Signed M.V.D. 1885
A magnificent and finely worked antique copper repoussé wall plaque depicting an elegantly dressed couple on a cobblestone street, set against a backdrop of characteristic Flemish stepped-gable townhouses, a church spire and street café. Hand-worked in heavy gauge copper with exceptional detail — a fine example of 19th century Belgian or Dutch decorative metalwork.
Technique: Hand-worked repoussé and chasing — heavy gauge copper sheet
Subject: Elegantly dressed dancing couple — woman in full period crinoline dress with bonnet, man in military uniform — cobblestone square with Flemish gabled buildings, tree and street café in background
