Volvo PV544 Kattenrug 1961

De PV544 werd parallel aan de Amazon geproduceerd. De Amazon was weliswaar bedoeld als opvolger voor de populaire Volvo PV444, wat een echte "volksauto" was, maar de Amazon bleek voor veel PV444-rijders te luxe en (dus) te duur. Als tussenoplossing kwam Volvo met de PV544. Pas in 1965 werd de 544 afgelost door de Amazon Favorit, een "uitgeklede" versie van de Amazon. De 544 was een gemoderniseerde versie van de Volvo PV444 en was, qua techniek, eigenlijk een andere auto. Beide auto's komen qua uiterlijk en carrosserie duidelijk uit dezelfde Volvo PV-serie. De verschillen tussen de 544 en de 444 bestaan hoofdzakelijk uit: modernere techniek & grille, groter glasoppervlak en grotere achterlichten.

Deze PV544, ook wel 'Kattenrug' genoemd, komt uit 1961. Hij is uitgevoerd in een nette 'Slate Blue' samen met een lichtblauw interieur. Zowel de carrosserie als de bekleding verkeert in een mooie conditie. Hiernaast heeft hij nog extra's zoals de voorgaand benoemde 8-spaaks Minilite velgen, originele Blaupunkt radio, zonnekap, RVS bumperset en Cibie verstralers.

In 1999 is de Kattenrug geïmporteerd vanuit Zweden, gerestaureerd en opnieuw gespoten in zijn originele Slate blue lak. De afgelopen jaren heeft er ook veel onderhoud plaatsgevonden. Belangrijke punten zijn vernieuwd zoals:
- Radiateur
- Alle vloeistoffen + filters
- Hoofdremcilinder
- Bekleding stoelen en zitting achterbank
- Deurpanelen
- Vloerbedekking binnen en kofferbak
- Nog véél meer!

De kilometerteller is defect, deze geeft wel de snelheid aan maar de totale gereden kilometers tellen niet op.

Hij is uitgevoerd met het welbekende 'B18' motorblok. Deze motor heeft te titel van indrukwekkend duurzaam gekregen. Dit is mede doordat de auto met de meeste kilometers ter wereld (Volvo P1800S 1966), meer dan 5 miljoen kilometers hiermee heeft gereden. Het bestaat uit een 1.8 liter in-lijn-viercilinder. Hij werd gemaakt van 1961 tot en met 1968 en produceert zo'n 75pk. Hieraan gekoppeld, is een goed schakelende 4-versnellingsbak.

Voor de documentatie zijn er diverse facturen en keuringen aanwezig. Hiernaast is er nog een taxatierapport en resterende algemene informatie inbegrepen.

Het kan zijn dat deze auto lichte gebruikssporen heeft opgelopen door zijn leeftijd, zie foto's.
