Een historisch project van Achille en Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, “Firenze” werd in 1965 ontworpen voor de tentoonstelling “La casa abitata” in Palazzo Strozzi, in Florence. Voor het evenement ontwierpen de gebroeders Castiglioni een eetkamer met slechts een paar elementen: een lamp met verschillende lichtniveaus, een meubelstuk bestaande uit grote treden, een gedekte tafel en dezelfde wandklok. In 1996 werd het project door Alessi in productie genomen. Tegen de tijd dat deze grote wandklok een meesterwerk van Castiglioni werd in de catague van Alessi.

De keuze om de klok in blauw, wit en zwart te vervaardigen is het resultaat van onderzoek uitgevoerd door Claudia Raimondo (een adviseur van Alessi voor onderzoek naar kleur en afwerking) in de archieven van het Achille Castiglioni Study Museum.

Deze wandklok is in uitstekendestaat met minimale gebruikerssporen.
