Der Fotograf Peter Beard reiste jahrelang durch Kenia und Tanganjika und legt hier eine Chronik der Erforschung, Erschließung und Wildvernichtung vor. Er besucht Pioniere wie die Berufsjäger Philip Percival und J. A. Hunter sowie die Schriftstellerin Isak Dinesen (Tania Blixen). Sehr interessante Details über die menschenfressenden Löwen von Tsavo, die legendären alten Großwildjäger, die Roosevelt-Safari, etc. Ein Abgesang auf das alte Afrika mit herausragenden Fotos.
