Vintage bouquet vase with rolled lip, designed in the 1950s-1960s by Heinrich-Maria Müller (1892-1974) for Sawa-Keramik and decorated with his 'Napoli' décor. Produced entirely by hand and numbered by hand and marked on the base with the model.  

Sawa-Keramik was the label under which Sawa-Franz Schwaderlapp GmbH produced fine, artisanal ceramics in "clinker" style from 1951 onwards. Founded in 1904 as an abrasive factory in Ransbach-Baumbach and soon started producing unglazed flower boxes at an affiliated pottery. Decorative ceramics were not produced until the end of World War II. Schwaderlapp's uncle, Heinrich-Maria Müller, joined his nephew's company in 1951 as chief designer of the newly established art department. He was responsible for the design of all shapes and decorations at Sawa until he retired in 1965. Many of the pots produced during this period were turned and decorated by hand by Müller himself.

Often the production methods were very labor-intensive and expensive to implement. The quality of the execution was consistently high. 

Sawa-Franz Schwaderlapp GmbH was a family business until 1992 and has been transferred to another owner of the same name, as Heinrich Schwaderlapp was appointed receiver of the company in 2000. The company went bankrupt in 2004.
