Cloth that Touched the Chains of Saint Peter + Document of Authenticity COA


This rare ecclesiastical certificate from the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome, authenticates a 2nd Class Relic — a piece of cloth (linteolum) that has touched the chains of Saint Peter the Apostle, known as the Prince of the Apostles.

Issued by the Canons Regular of St. Peter in Chains, the document affirms in Latin the relic's association with the rust of the chains preserved at the Basilica. The printed seal of the Canons, along with an applied wax and embossed paper seal with red silk thread, testifies to its origin and authenticity. Dated October 14, 1868, and bearing canonical signatures, it serves as an official attestation of the relic's spiritual and historical value.

These devotional relics are venerated objects connected to sites or instruments of martyrdom and are traditionally distributed by religious authorities under ecclesiastical supervision.

Condition:
Excellent preserved condition. No damage to the paper, seals, or red silk threads.
