THE MICROPHONE:

Hi-Zi Electro-Voice EV 630 with powerful output, real crunchy sound, more reminiscence of Crystal element than dynamic. While writing this I am listening to William Clarke R.I.P. who used to play almost exclusively on Crystal elements when playing diatonic. The sound this EV 660 is very close to the sound of his microphones and this is a win-win situation: A life-long Dynamic element, bound to survive forever, with the sound of rare crystal

The EV 630 is fitted with a non-metallic diaphragm which permits smoother response over a wider frequency range and withstands high humidity, temperature extremes, corrosive effects of salt air and severe mechanical shocks. It is practically indestructible in normal use so it may last for ages, guaranteeing your investment!

It comes originally with two modes of impedance, low and high, and can be modified according to wish. This specimen has been adapted to Hi-Zi, producing a huge output and a marvelous, real Mississippi Saxophone sound. At the same time it keep a very nice, deep low bottom.

The microphone head has removed from its bulky handle which has been sawed-off. A Switchcraft connection has been installed at the bottom. At the top, at a beautiful angle, a prime chrome Volume Control has been installed, comprising of 10 detents (clicks) so you never loose your preferred adjustment or happy point. It is a prime potentiometer which will adjust the volume from practically zero upwards very gradually in very small steps avoiding giant, annoying jumps up or down in output.

[LO AND BEHOLD:] The microphone is fitted with the coolest thing in the world: AN INTEGRATED CIGARETTE HOLDER is placed at the rear, a reminder to the good old days when practically almost every harmonica player sucked simultaneously the air from his harp - and cigarette...

THE BASE / STAND:

Teardrop shaped, Art Deco craftwork, custom made chrome base / stand, 18cm long and 13cm wide, fitted with 5 rubber feet and a swivel shaft. A vintage Switchcraft connector has been added to allow screwing the microphone safely. Together with the microphone they form a pair matched in heaven!
