Groot 4o: 47 p. 240 platen waarvan de 1e 3 ingekleurd. Dik stevig goed papier. Gebonden in een originele half lederen band. Band is afgesleten (zie foto's). Binding en papier stevig en goed.  

** Wordt toegeschreven aan Thomas Jefferys ( ca. 1719 – 1771), de ‘geograaf van koning George III ’, was een Engelse cartograaf die in zijn tijd de belangrijkste leverancier van kaarten was. Hij graveerde en drukte kaarten voor de overheid en andere officiële instanties en produceerde een breed scala aan commerciële kaarten en atlassen, vooral van Noord-Amerika . 
Als "geograaf van de Prins van Wales " produceerde hij A Plan of all the Houses, destroyed & damage by the Great Fire, which began in Exchange Alley Cornhill, on Friday March 25, 1748. Hij produceerde The Small English Atlas met Thomas Kitchin , en hij graveerde plattegronden van steden in de Engelse Midlands . 
In 1754 publiceerde Jefferys een kaart van het meest bewoonde deel van Virginia, die in 1751 door Joshua Fry en Peter Jefferson was onderzocht . Het jaar daarop publiceerde hij een kaart van New England, onderzocht door John Green, en in 1768 publiceerde hij A General Topography of North America and the West Indies in samenwerking met Robert Sayer . In 1775, na zijn dood, werden collecties van zijn kaarten door Sayer gepubliceerd als The American Atlas en The West-India Atlas . De American Atlas werd in 1776 opnieuw uitgegeven, uitgebreid als reactie op de groeiende vijandelijkheden tussen de Britten en de Amerikanen; het bevat kaarten van Joshua Fry , Peter Jefferson , Lewis Evans en anderen.
In 1754 nam Jefferys een krachtig en publiek standpunt in in de controverse met de Fransen over de grens tussen Nova Scotia en Acadia , die ontstond in de tijd en context van de oorlog van pater Le Loutre , waarvan algemeen wordt aangenomen dat deze in 1749 begon en eindigde met de verdrijving van de Acadiërs in 1755. 
Jefferys leende postuum zijn naam in 1776 aan The American Atlas: Or, A Geographical Description Of The Whole Continent Of America . Het bevat werk van onder anderen Joshua Fry en Peter Jefferson .
