Rare and evocative Art Nouveau votive lantern, made in Italy around 1900, most likely for ecclesiastical or devotional use.

The lantern features a striking combination of pressed glass in green/yellow uranium tones, rich in air bubbles typical of antique moulded glass, and a finely chased brass structure with naturalistic floral motifs.
It consists of multiple original elements, all carefully preserved and restored: the decorative crown, the glass body with embossed medallions and stylized motifs, and the ceiling mount with chain suspension system.

A beautiful balance between glass and metal, where every detail has been patiently revived.
It is ready to illuminate again — softly radiant, a true symphony in brass and green.

Cultural context and stylistic differences:
This type of votive lantern – made of colored glass with a brass structure and a cross on top – was produced between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, usually in red or green glass, likely for symbolic liturgical reasons.

In Rome, where this lantern was found, similar examples can be seen exclusively in church chapels, never in domestic settings. This is still visible today in many ancient Roman churches, where red and green votive lanterns, often mixed together, hang near the altars.

By contrast, abroad (particularly in France and Northern Europe), lanterns of similar shape are found in much greater numbers and are generally intended for domestic or decorative use. The distinction between these and the authentically liturgical Italian models is key to understanding the original function and historical value of this piece.
