A l’instar de Ernst Haas ou encore de Stephen Shore, Eggleston a grandement
contribué à donner à la photo couleur ses lettres de noblesse.

à chaud.
Ancien exemplaire de montage Misomex (Machine de réplication de films 
ou fichiers CTP -Computer to Plate- pour l’imposition des plaques offset).

Les premières initiatives photographiques d'Eggleston lui furent inspirées par le
photographe américain Robert Frank, et par le livre du photographe français
Henri Cartier-Bresson : Le Moment décisif.
Alors qu'à ses débuts il travaillait en noir et blanc, Eggleston commença en 1965
et 1966 à expérimenter la pellicule couleur, qui devint finalement son principal
moyen d'expression à la fin des années 1960.
