Photographer profile
D. J. Hinman is an avid amateur photographer with 30 years of experience behind the camera.  Black-and-white film is his exclusive medium.  His two published photography books:  “Talad in Southeast Asia” (2021) and “Nepal is Calling” (2022); and has held 13 solo exhibits in Japan and one duo exhibit in Nepal.  His work has been featured in both print and on-line magazines.  He got his start in film photography at the International Center for Photography (ICP) in New York in the mid-1990s.  He develops his own film and does all his own printing by hand in the darkroom.  D. J. Hinman has lived in Tokyo for 22 years and has travelled widely throughout East Asia.
