Thomas Bartholinus, figlio dell’ anatomista Caspar, nacque a Copenaghen nel 1616, dove mantenne per tutta la vita l’ incarico di Professore di anatomia.
Conseguì il dottorato a Basilea.
Fu attivamente coinvolto nella ricerca in anatomia, fisiologia ed “anatomia patologica,
“in particolare nella scoperta dei vasi linfatici umani e nelle differenze rispetto a quelli animali.
Autore straordinariamente produttivo, noto anche per i suoi esperimenti sull’ anatomia umana”.

Contiene 120 splendide incisioni a piena pagina, 
alcune a doppia pagina, con 12 tavole fuori testo piu’ volte ripiegate, un’ antiporta ed il ritratto dell’ autore.
“La maggiorparte delle illustrazioni del testo sono tratte da Vesalio, Casserio, Vesling, Ruysch,
Stenone, de Graaf, Silvio e Folio”.

Ottima ed integra legatura coeva in piena pelle, perfettamente conservata, con dorso a 5 nervi riccamente decorato, oltre ad autore e titolo dorati in cornice.

Interni generalmente ben conservati, con lievi e costanti bruniture oltre a gore al taglio esterno.
Controfondature al margine inferiore 
dell’ antiporta ed in corrispondenza della marca editoriale al frontespizio, per probabile asportazione di exlibris.
Piccola macchia,con lieve consunzione sempre all’ antiporta per antiche cancellature exlibris.
Ben conservate e tutte presenti le tavole, comprese le 12 tavole ripiegate.
Conservate le sguardie originali.

Buona copia, completa ed originale in ogni sua parte.
