Okimono 置物 of a bound string bundle & ants - Wood (Boxwood) - Japan - Late Meiji period (Early 20th century)
A finely carved boxwood okimono 置物 in the shape of a bound bundle of silk string tied into an infinity loop.
The cord is tightly fastened at the centre with a bow, its ends finished with tassels. Several small ants crawl across the bundle,
Period: Japan – Late Meiji period (Early 20th century)
Dimensions: Length 21 cm, Depth 6.5 cm, Height 5.2 cm
