[Free Shipping] Decorative Kutani Gourd-Form Vase with Brilliant Blue Glaze - Porcelain - 徳田八十吉 Tokuda Yasokichi (Ryūūken) - Japan - 1900-2000

Item Description: This is a fine Kutani ware vase crafted by the celebrated ceramic artist Tokuda Yasokichi (徳田八十吉), bearing the art name Ryūūken (柳雨軒). The piece is titled Hyo-kei Hanaire (瓢形花入), a gourd-shaped flower vase, finished in the artist’s distinctive Hekimei-yū (碧明釉) glaze. The deep cobalt-blue glaze, softly transitioning in tone, is enriched by fluid, wave-like relief lines that run elegantly across the rounded body. The tall, slender neck and bulbous lower form embody balance and refinement, while the brilliance of the glaze reveals Tokuda’s mastery of Kutani traditions fused with innovative modern aesthetics. Signed to the base, and accompanied by the original tomobako (signed wooden box) and tomo-fuku (protective cloth). The inscriptions on the box authenticate the work as a special creation (特作) by Tokuda Yasokichi under his Ryūūken studio name. A superb collector’s piece, it reflects the enduring prestige of the Tokuda kiln and the international acclaim of Yasokichi’s work.
