Maria met Kind - Sedes Sapientiae – gepatineerd gips – Frankrijk – eind 19e eeuw

Sfeervol religieus beeld van Maria met Kind, naar een ontwerp van de Franse beeldhouwer Henri Bouriché (1826–1906), uitgevoerd in gepatineerd gips met een warme, bruine finish. Maria is hier voorgesteld als ‘Sedes Sapientiae’ (Zetel der Wijsheid), getooid met een kroon en gekleed in een rijk gedrapeerd gewaad. Ze houdt Jezus liefdevol in haar armen, waarbij het kind zijn hoofdje tegen haar schouder laat rusten en zijn handje tegen haar borst legt. Het geheel straalt tederheid en innerlijke verbondenheid uit.

De patina benadrukt de zachte gelaatsuitdrukking en de vloeiende plooival van het gewaad, en geeft het beeld een warme, tijdloze uitstraling. Op het voetstuk staat de Latijnse inscriptie "SEDES SAPIENTIAE".

Hoogte 45 cm. In goede staat met enkele gebruikssporen en kleine ouderdomskenmerken passend bij materiaal en leeftijd.
