No.142
After graduating from "Ryukoku University"龍谷大学 in "Kyoto"京都, Reverend "Myodō Togami"戸上明堂(1935~) —born in Mie Prefecture—studied Zen under the great master "Sessō Oda"小田雪窓(1901~1966) at "Daitoku-ji"大徳寺 and was later appointed abbot of "Gyokuryū-ji"玉龍寺.
This single-line calligraphy reads “Rekireki ro-dōdō” (歴々露堂々), a Zen phrase that proclaims, “Truth stands plainly revealed—nothing is concealed.”
Executed in Reverend Myodō’s bold and lucid hand, the work powerfully embodies the spirit of the saying and stands as a superb example of Zen brushwork.
