Byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) - Paper, Silk, Lacquered wood, Metal - Morishima Mifune 森島美舟 (act. late 20th century) - Japan - Late 20th century, ‘80’s-90’s (Late Shôwa period/Heisei period)
A lovely low four-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) by Morishima Mifune 森島美舟 (act. late 20th century), depicting a vibrant flower cart 花車 (hana’guruma).
The cart carries a large bamboo basket 花籠 (hanakago) overflowing with a rich assortment of flowers, like soft pink and white peonies 牡丹 (botan), delicate white cherry blossoms 桜 (sakura), and vivid autumn leaves 紅葉 (momiji) — rendered on a dark golden silk ground.
Signed and sealed in the lower left corner: “Mifune” 美舟, the signature of the artist Morishima Executed in colour and ink on matt golden silk, bordered by two brocade silk bands: a slender ecru-golden inner border and a broader green outer border. Framed with black lacquered wood and fitted with protective metal hardware.
Period: Japan – Late 20th century (‘80s–‘90s, Late Shôwa to Heisei period)

In a very good condition with minimal signs of age, including a small dent to the right panel and a light water stain to the left. The reverse shows some repapering. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
Due to its modest size and light construction, this byôbu is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and displaying as a single decorative artwork.
