A fine bi-folio from a miniature Indian Quran of Kashmiri origin, written on burnished paper dating C1815.  The scripture is from  the Meccan chapter Surah Al-Mulk (All Authority), verses 17-22, which describe both Allah's power and his many warnings to disbelievers. They warn of a "storm of stones" and asks disbelievers how they will be safe from divine punishment, mentioning previous peoples who denied the truth and were punished. It then offers guidance through a metaphor of birds flying with wings spread out, held up only by the Most Gracious, as a sign of Allah's power and constant watchfulness over all creation. 

Written in naskh in black ink, the illuminated pages have deep, multi-banded, floral borders with well preserved colouring.  The script consists of 8 lines on each folio, separated by gold interlinear bands. The verses are marked by simple gold aya and text has a few diacritical markings in red for devotees to follow. The script has elaborate arabesque framing reaching to the margins of the manuscript pages. 

This is a fine illuminated example in very g good condition of a Qur"an from Kashomir that is over 200 years old.
