Decorative Gouda Holland plateel bowl, c.1900–1915, hand-painted stylised foliate decoration, yellow rim & black exterior band; marked “1843 PLATO GOUDA HOLLAND”.

This attractive early-20th-century piece features a wide yellow rim with undulating green border, a black exterior band, and a terracotta interior decorated with stylised foliate and seed-pod motifs in olive green, white and cobalt blue.

The bowl’s distinctive decoration and colour palette are typical of early Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland (PZH) production from Gouda, blending Art Nouveau and early Art Deco influences.
The number “1843” refers to the model or decor pattern, not the production year.
The glaze shows fine, even crazing consistent with age. The underside bears the original mark, clearly legible. A beautiful and authentic example of Gouda art pottery, ideal for collectors.
