Antique Gold Inro maki-e Swimming Turtle makie sagemono - Gold, Lacquer, Wood - Japan - Edo Period (1600-1868)
An inro and netsuke from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period.
This piece depicts turtles swimming in the sea on a gold inro.
They look like a parent and child turtle.
If you look closely, you can see a pattern of ocean waves.
Delicate painting even in inconspicuous places.
The interior is covered with maki-e, making this a luxury item of the time.
It has been kept in very good condition.
There is a small chip on the side of the inro.
I don't think it's noticeable.
It doesn't detract from the atmosphere of the piece.
The box is not from the Edo period, but I will include it.
Netsuke, please choose your preference.
Size: Inro: Height 8cm, Width 5cm, 3cm;
