Zeer knappe vintage vaas in blauw-groen glas met een swirl oranje getekend Nicolas Morin jaar 1987.

Nicolas Morin is een Franse glaskunstenaar, geboren in 1959, die bekend staat om zijn hedendaagse glaswerk dat voortbouwt op de traditionele technieken van het glasblazen. 

Hij is de zoon van de bekende glasmakers Claude en Florence Morin, die in de jaren 70 pioniers waren van de glaskunst in Europa en hun eigen studio oprichtten in Dieulefit, Frankrijk. 

Kenmerken van zijn werk:
Techniek: Morin is vooral bekend om zijn geblazen en gelaagd glas, waarin hij vaak goud- of koperblad verwerkt voor extra glans en kleur. Hij beheerst ook de traditionele blaastechniek op een manier die hem in staat stelt zonder assistent te werken.

Stijl: Zijn werk wordt gekenmerkt door levendige kleuren en grafische patronen in eenvoudige, vaak niet-functionele vormen, zoals vazen en flessen. Hij creëert ook sculpturen met inspiratie uit de Afrikaanse en Oceanische kunst.

Achtergrond: Naast zijn werk als glaskunstenaar heeft Morin een diploma in architectuur en heeft hij in de jaren '80 samengewerkt met bekende glaskunstenaars zoals William Morris en Dale Chihuly.
Erfenis: Hij nam in 1994 het atelier van zijn vader over, dat in 2005 de deuren sloot. Sindsdien richt hij zich volledig op zijn eigen artistieke praktijk.
