De Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX Aspherical DF is een klassieke autofocuszoomlens voor filmcamera's en vroege digitale spiegelreflexcamera's die niet meer wordt geproduceerd. Hij staat bekend als een scherpe en lichte "prosumer"-lens. De "DF" in de naam staat voor "Dual Focus", wat aangeeft dat de lens een koppeling heeft om te schakelen tussen autofocus en handmatige scherpstelling.
Belangrijkste kenmerken
Snel, constant diafragma: Een maximaal diafragma van f/2.8 zorgt voor goede prestaties bij weinig licht en geringe scherptediepte-effecten over het gehele zoombereik.
DF (Dual Focus)-mechanisme: Een koppelingssysteem stelt de gebruiker in staat de handmatige scherpstelring los te koppelen voor snellere autofocus. Dit maakt de lens gebruiksvriendelijker en responsiever dan sommige oudere ontwerpen.
Asferische elementen: De lens is voorzien van asferische elementen om aberraties te corrigeren en vervorming te minimaliseren, wat zorgt voor een goede beeldkwaliteit voor die tijd.
Compact ontwerp: De lens staat bekend om zijn compacte en lichte constructie in verhouding tot het constante diafragma van f/2.8, waardoor het een handige allroundlens is.
Optica uit het filmtijdperk: Omdat dit objectief oorspronkelijk ontworpen was voor 35mm-film, kunnen de prestaties op moderne digitale camera's wisselend zijn. Sommige gebruikers melden een uitstekende scherpte, terwijl anderen het zachter vinden, vooral bij volledig open diafragma. De scherpte in het midden is echter vaak goed en de prestaties verbeteren bij diafragmeren.
