Val Saint Lambert – Set van 8 messenleggers "Vatel" in uraniumglas (1913) - ZELDZAAM!

Zeldzame en bijzonder fraaie set van 8 messenleggers, vervaardigd door de beroemde kristalfabriek Val Saint Lambert en opgenomen in de catalogus van 1913 onder de naam "Vatel".
Het ontwerp toont een sierlijk, golvend reliëf met florale accenten, typerend voor de overgang van Art Nouveau naar Art Deco in het vroege 20e-eeuwse tafelglaswerk.

De messenleggers zijn uitgevoerd in uraniumglas, dat onder normaal licht een frisgroene kleur heeft en onder UV-licht spectaculair oplicht in een fel fluorescerend groen. Deze techniek was populair in die periode en maakt dit soort stukken vandaag tot gezochte verzamelobjecten.

Val Saint Lambert, opgericht in 1826 nabij Luik, groeide uit tot de belangrijkste kristalfabriek van België en verwierf internationale faam omwille van de hoge kwaliteit en het verfijnde ontwerp van zijn glaswerk. Deze messenleggers "Vatel" zijn daar een schitterend voorbeeld van.
