Occasional Table, bijzettafel - Ontwerp  Eileen Gray 1927, 
Gelakt MDF, verchroomd metaal, ClassiCon Duitsland.

Deze handige bijzettafel is een ontwerp uit 1927 
van de beroemde Iers-Schotse ontwerpster Eileen Gray
Het is een functionele tafel die flexibiliteit en mobiliteit uitstraalt, 
en met dat doel ook speciaal ontworpen.
De vorm van de handgreep om de tafel te verplaatsen, 
annex verbinding tussen beide bladen, is daarvan een voorbeeld.

Beide bladen, MDF afgewerkt met een 
hoogwaardige hoogglanslak, hebben afgeronde hoeken.
Zowel op het tafelblad als op de voet zijn objecten te plaatsen. 
Door de hoogglans lak van de bladen krijgt de tafel een luxe aanzien. 
Eileen Gray heeft zichzelf in de techniek van het lakwerk bekwaamd 
en daardoor een huidziekte opgelopen. 
Ook andere meubelontwerpen 
van haar hand zijn uitgevoerd met lakwerk.

In één van de verchroomde buizen onder het bovenblad 
is de firmanaam, serienummer. en ontwerpster ingestanst: 
ClassiCon, 00 00131, Eileen Gray.
Dit is een waarborg voor het origineel van dit meubel 
(er verschijnen nl. ook copiën van haar ontwerpen). 
Ondanks dat de tafel gebruikt is, zijn sporen daarvan miniem: 
slechts wat oppervlakkige krasjes in het lakwerk,
de verchroomde buizen zijn in perfecte staat.

De tafel kan verzonden worden, 
maar het is beter dit kwetsbare object af te halen.
