This book is a special edition of the magazine Asahi Graph published on March 10, 1965, titled Asahi Graph March 10, 1965 Issue: Vietnam in Flames, featuring photographs by photojournalist Keiichi Akimoto. It features the early representative work of writer Ken Kaiko, “Vietnam War Chronicles.” Dispatched as a special correspondent for the Asahi Shimbun in February 1965, he embedded with the Vietnamese army. Out of nearly 200 embedded journalists, only 20 returned alive. Kaiko narrowly escaped with his life. His heartfelt reportage is still regarded today as a timeless masterpiece. Accompanying Kaiko on this assignment was Asahi Shimbun photographer Keiichi Akimoto. This volume meticulously documents his signature work—a series of images depicting the execution of Vietnamese high school students that cannot be viewed without tears. Though a photojournalism magazine, it is a deeply substantive volume.
