Composée sur le dessus de deux volets cachant en son intérieur plusieurs compartiments de rangement. L'ouverture du tiroir qui se trouve sous l'écritoire est activé lors du mouvement d'une des parties de volets, l'intérieur est en velour violet

Il faut également apprécier sa richesse immatérielle : cette boîte est, depuis plus de 150 ans, le témoin silencieux de centaines de lettres officielles et de lettres d'amour qui y sont écrites. Cette pièce est peut être attribuée à la Maison Alphonse Giroux, Paris mais Il n'a pas de marque d'attribution.
