Appearance: Lu Xing is almost always depicted as a dignified, benevolent, and often slightly portly scholar-official. He is typically shown in the robes of a high-ranking court official from the Ming or Qing dynasty.
Attributes: He is often, but not always, shown holding the Ruyi Scepter (a symbol of wishes fulfilled and authority) or a scroll of official appointment. He may sometimes be accompanied by a deer (lu), a homophone for his name, which also symbolizes official rank.
Role: As part of the Fu Lu Shou trinity, he represents the hope for a successful career, social status, and the wealth that comes with it.
