Olivetti, Italie – 1972

Dans le cadre du projet Sistema 45, Ettore Sottsass conçoit pour Olivetti bien plus qu’un mobilier de bureau : il crée un langage. Ce cendrier, en apparence modeste, incarne avec force cette vision radicale du design où chaque objet, aussi fonctionnel soit-il, participe à une esthétique globale de l’espace de travail.

Réalisé en résine moulée, cet objet se distingue par son relief géométrique rythmé, une grille de demi-sphères qui brouille la frontière entre volume et surface. Certaines alvéoles sont pleines, d'autres creuses — un subtil jeu d’illusion et d’usage. Pensé comme un accessoire de bureau, il devient aujourd’hui une sculpture minimaliste, emblématique du style industriel poétique propre à Sottsass.

Ce cendrier est une rareté, témoin d’une époque où le bureau devenait un terrain d’expérimentation architecturale et plastique.
