- exemplaire enrichi d'une signature Georges Duhamel sur la fausse page de titre.
Et un des 33 exemplaires sur papier Ingres crème numérotés à la presse de 254 à 286 (en vente le numéro 263).

Revêtue d'une reliure demi-maroquin à coins avec dos nervés orné de filets dorés et du titrage. Avec les initiales M.L. près de la coiffe inférieure. Tête dorée et couverture et dos d'origine conservés.

Présence d'un ex-libris, sur la page de garde, de Ginette et Marcel Lavergne.

Le roman, dans la veine intimiste et grave de l'auteur, explore les tourments de la conscience humaine dans un climat de tension morale et sociale. Duhamel, membre de l'Académie française et figure majeure des lettres françaises d'entre-deux-guerres, y déploie sa prose introspective et son humanisme profond. Exemplaire bien relié, tiré sur papier courant, mais valorisé par cette envoi manuscrit.

Exemplaire bien conservé: infimes frottements d'usure sur les coiffes. Charnière solide.  Intérieur frais et sans rousseurs. Intérieur frais et sans rousseurs.
