Description from the seller
The original edition of this essay, published in the 'Les Tracts' collection by éditions de la Petite Sirène, is bound with a dust jacket.
In this short 'book of humor and paradoxes,' according to Bernard Baritaud's phrase, Mac Orlan develops the distinction he makes between the figure of the active adventurer, one who actually lives the adventure with all its dangers and disappointments, and that of the 'passive adventurer,' who delights in the reports of the former and thus lives the adventure vicariously, without experiencing its setbacks, because he well knows that 'travels, like war, are not worth practicing.'
According to Jean-Claude Lamy, the Little Manual of the Perfect Adventurer was commissioned from Pierre Mac Orlan by Blaise Cendrars.
Well-preserved copy: light wear marks on the covers. Solid hinge. Fresh interior and free of foxing.
