This 1736 Carlo Antonio Testore 4/4 violin is ready to play with a solid spruce top, flamed maple back and good ebony setup, making it a serious contender for a soloist’s repertoire.

A very fine antique master 4/4 violin, labeled Carlo Antonio Testore figlio maggiore del fu Carlo Giuseppe in Contrada larga al fegno dell'Aquila Milano 1736. The instrument is in ready to play condition with no cracks on the corpus, small repaired cracks to peg-box, bushed peg-holes, good ebony set up, old pirastro strings. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and two pieces back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll. Very rich golden brown color varnish over golden ground. The whole length of the violin is 586 mm and the back 356 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 115 mm; lower bouts: 206 mm. The sound is very good, powerful, sweet, rich, suitable for soloist. Shipping worldwide insured
