Ballantine's Very Old Scotch Whisky, 17-year-old, exported 75 cl version, 43% ABV, bottled in Scotland in the 1980s, unopened with original box.
Description from the seller
Rare vintage bottle of Ballantine’s Very Old Scotch Whisky – Aged 17 Years, in unopened condition, complete with the original box. The bottle has been stored upright in a dry, dark environment. Seal appears to be intact and fill level is good (see photos).
This is the 75cl export version, not the later EU 70cl edition. The style of bottle, box and label strongly suggests an earlier production era, most likely the 1970s.
Authenticity & Dating
Several original features point to 1970s bottling:
Box code: “B722G” – commonly linked to 1972 batch / early 1970s production
Glass code on bottle base: “SCB96” – typical of Ballantine’s glass production in the 1970s
75cl volume – used for exports before the EU 70cl standard (introduced in the 1980s)
Typography, label design and box style match pre-1982 releases
These elements strongly indicate that this is a 1970s bottling, making it more collectible than later versions.
