C. da Silva, Dalva - 40 years old Tawny - Porto - 1 Bottle (0.75L)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s). Dalva 40 Years Old Tawny Port 1 x 0.75L In 1933, having just arrived from Brazil, Clemente da Silva realized his lifelong dream, creating an excellent wine house that would lead him to the globalization of his business: C. da Silva – resulting from the abbreviation of his name. A year later he registered the brand Dalva, which results from the contraction “da Silva”. With a simple and very Portuguese sound, success was easy to achieve in different markets. Looking for an activity in which to invest the capital from his business in Brazil, the young entrepreneur takes advantage of the close collaboration with the company Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos, founded in 1862, and owned by his wife's family, to build up his initial stocks and give the first steps in the business, with Vintage Ports from 1896, 1912 or 1920 being famous. Combining centuries-old knowledge and techniques with new technologies and innovation, Dalva's portfolio is unique and distinct, presenting an unparalleled offer of Colheita Port Wines, which include unique and limited editions, the classic Vintage Port Wines, and a range exclusive range of White Port Wines, culminating in the aged and dated Golden White and Dry White collection. WINEMAKER: José Manuel Sousa Soares. AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS 96-97 Points, VertdeVin 95 Points, Revista de Vinhos 19.5 Points, Decanter Magazine 18.5 Points, Excellency, Paixão Pelo Vinho WINE VARIETIES: Traditional from the Douro, such as Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca. VINIFICATION The fermentation process is interrupted at the ideal time, in accordance with the traditional method of producing Port Wine, which includes stopping fermentation through the addition of brandy of wine origin. This 40 Year Old Tawny Port wine originates from batches of different wines of superior quality, aged in casks for varying periods, giving rise to a wine with a tawny color, with evolved aromas, presenting a tasting profile of a 40 year old wine. TASTING NOTES Brown and olive green nuances. An extremely intense and complex Port wine, the result of decades of evolution in wood. It presents aromas of dried fruits, with a touch of spices (nutmeg) and coffee. Lively and silky, it reveals notes of honey on the palate, finishing long and dense. SERVING It can be enjoyed alone or alongside starters such as “foie gras”. It goes perfectly with convent sweets or the traditional “bolo-rei”. It should be served between 12ºC and 16ºC.
