Stalinstadt (WITH ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET) by Martin Lücke, hardback in linen with the original dust jacket, first edition, published in 1958 by Kongress-Verlag, Berlin, 192 pages.
Description from the seller
VERY SCARCE EAST GERMAN (GDR/DDR) PROPAGANDA PHOTOBOOK -
with the EXTREM SCARCE ORIGINAL DUSTJACKET, designed by Helmut Seyfart.
Thomas Wiegand, Manfred Heiting, "Deutschland im Fotobuch", page 388/389.
COMPLETE - with the separate stapled 24 pages text booklet at the end of the book.
THIS IS THE VERY FIRST PHOTOBOOK AUCTION ON CATAWIKI - dedicated entirely to the world of the former "DDR"/"GDR" ("GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC" or "EAST GERMANY") which existed from 1949 to 1990.
Still largely undiscovered and unexplored, this field offers a wealth of fascinating discoveries for collectors.
5Uhr30.com presents exceptional works by renowned and emerging artists, survey works, compelling monographs, as well as extraordinarily rare small vintage catalogues, vintage children’s books and vintage factory photobooks; signed publications, posters, and much more.
"The city was built for the newly established Ost ironworks combine, named after Stalin in 1953, and given the new name Eisenhüttenstadt in 1961 as part of the de-Stalinization process.
Stalinstadt is a model and example for our socialist construction.
Today, as new cities and works of socialism are emerging in many places in our republic, and to an even greater extent than happened on the Oder, it is worth looking to Stalinstadt, a city where the
future has already become reality.
The representative illustrated book was intended to convey pride and identity. Under the motto 'New Life, New People', the book presents the existing locations, the construction of the steelworks, and the new city.
The explanatory texts, intended for an international audience, are translated into Russian, English, and French and can be found in a separate supplement."
(Thomas Wiegand in 'Deutschland im Fotobuch')
