E’maki’mono 絵巻物 (illustrated handscroll) showcasing a collection of twelve detailed polychrome shunga paintings. Shunga 春画, which translates to "picture of spring"—a euphemism for sex—is a genre of Japanese erotic art.
This scroll captures eleven scenes featuring couples in various stages of undress, engaged in diverse sexual positions. The final painting distinctively presents three close-ups of female genitalia within a circular cartouche.
Ink and watercolour on silk, mounted on grey/golden brocade silk.
Period: Japan – Meiji period (1868-1912).
Dimensions:
Entire length approx. 640 cm. Height 14.5 cm.
In a very good condition with some traces of wear conform age, like browning. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
