AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Claude Lorrain (1600-1682)
The draftsman at the harbor ('Le dessinateur'), etching from 1635-36 (=Dumesnil no. 9, second state of four). The second state is recognizable by the number 5 in the left margin.
The ETS is included and described in the two standard works.
A. Robert-Dumesnil: 'The French painter-engraver Claude le Lorrain' in André Blum: 'The etchings of Claude Gellée known as le Lorrain'.
Size up to the contour line is 12.4 x 17.5 cm, with a 3 to 4 mm margin outside. In three corners, a slight discoloration is visible due to old (removed) stickers on the back. Otherwise, the image is completely fresh and intact. On the back, there are two small sticker residues, possibly also a repair of invisible cracks in the margin. When backlit, thin spots are visible in three corners due to removed stickers. On the back, in pencil, it says 'Claude'.
The work is delivered under sturdy acrylic protective film and a cardboard folder with detailed information about the work of a previous owner-collector.
