Original Japanese illustrated woodblock-printed edition from the 19th century, consisting of two volumes, produced using traditional hand-carved woodblock printing on washi paper. The books are dedicated to historical samurai warfare and contain extensive textual descriptions accompanied by a large number of finely detailed illustrations. Inside the volumes: numerous full double-page battle scenes; depictions of samurai warriors, ashigaru infantry, military councils and troop movements; river crossings, attacks, defensive positions and close-combat scenes; continuously accompanied by detailed historical narrative text. Each page is printed by hand from carved wooden blocks, with clearly visible traditional cutting lines typical of authentic 19th century woodblock printing. The paper is original Japanese washi. Original traditional Japanese stab-bound binding with paper title labels on the covers. Condition consistent with age: natural toning of the paper, age spots, minor wear and surface marks, no missing pages. All leaves are complete.
