Description from the seller

History of the instrument
This bowlback mandolin was made by Eduard Heidegger in Linz on the Danube, Austria, in the early 1900s. It features the characteristic pear-shaped body with decorative mother-of-pearl inlays on the soundhole, which is typical of Central European mandolin craftsmanship of that time.
Bowlback mandolins were an essential part of European folk music and were also used in classical ensembles. Instruments from established manufacturers like Eduard Heidegger, who specialized in various string instruments, are especially valued by collectors of historical musical instruments and musicians seeking authentic sounds from the turn of the century. Their craftsmanship and warm, distinctive tone make them highly sought-after collectibles.
