Description from the seller

Festive icon with a central depiction of the resurrection of Christ (Anastasis)

The present icon depicts the resurrection of Christ in the classical Orthodox Anastasis representation, surrounded by a complete feast cycle. The work is stylistically, iconographically, and technically clearly attributable to the late 18th century and originates from a high-quality workshop in the Upper Volga region. The fine miniature painting, the nuanced architectural ornamentation, and the richly decorated gold background indicate a distinguished private house icon.

The central scene is accompanied by a surrounding festive cycle, including, among others:
Birth of Christ
Representation in the temple
Baptism of Christ
Transfiguration
Entry into Jerusalem
Crucifixion
burial
Women at the grave
Ascension
Pentecost
Dormition of the Mother of God

The cycle is complete, iconographically correct, and follows the church-orthodox tradition without folk deviations.
