Statue, legno Mosè XVII secolo, barocco - 50 cm - Walnut

Seventeenth-century wooden sculpture depicting Moses holding the tablets of the law.
The work displays expert craftsmanship highlighted by rich ornamental drapery of the garments that envelop the figure in its entirety.
The face is adorned with a thick beard and long hair finely carved with Baroque-style curls.
The age of the piece (seventeenth century) can be inferred not only from its classic workmanship but also from the aging of the wood visible at the base.
Remnants of stucco remain among the folds of the garments, evidence of ancient polychromy.
Some wormholes and a missing right hand.
On the back there is a hook (added later) for hanging on the wall, but it can also stand upright.
