The sculptor Yves Lohé was born in March 1947 in a village in northern France. Very early on, his dreamer and solitary character made him grow up as a child who was very close to nature. As a teenager he found refuge in poetry and even wrote plays. After completing his traditional education, he strayed into the study of law, which he interrupted to pursue teaching. Very quickly, he felt that only sculpturing could help him to regain the emotions of his childhood. 1972, he did an internship with Abel Bataillard, the famous master blacksmith in Pigalle. 1974 he resigned from teaching and started sculpting using the arts of fire. He made his first works in wrought iron; the 1st art of fire. He made his debut in Parisian studios: Independent, French artists... Then came the Mains de Fer, about 80 sculptures ranging from a handshake to a punch, which shouted out his anger at life. Then came the filiform characters; body expression, the study of forms and attitudes were his main sources of inspiration through various themes such as dance, music, people on the street, etc..... The shapes gradually soften. He created monumental sculptures for towns and villages in France. 1979, he started his Bronze Workshop and left the wrought iron works; the 2nd art of fire 1991, his meeting Werner Manesse, master glassmaker gave him the opportunity to fulfil another dream: Glass working; the study of transparency and colour. Werner taught him the language of glass. A multicoloured vocabulary was born which allowed him to add to the form and matter, the magical touch of light in order to create his own poetry. Lohé then created his own glass workshop; the 3rd art of fire. Lohé very quickly found himself in harmony with his new material and invented a way of working with glass and bronze that gave each work its own unique character. What is so remarkable about Lohé is the integrity of his work; his continuous reflection on the harmony between colour and movement. Every sculpture is addressed not only to the eye that lingers but also to the feeling that it gives rise to in everyone. Lohé will not give you a speech about “his art”, he is not one of those who are “disruptive”. The most important thing for Lohé is undoubtedly the other's perspective. Then, at that moment, the complicity between the artist and the eye that lingers on the object is born. Lohé offers his works through international exhibitions and is featured in the most beautiful displays in the world.
