Beautiful etching of the Rondpoort on the Twijnstraat at the Werf in Utrecht made by H. IJkelenstam.
Twijnstraat aan de Werf - De Rondpoort 1929. 
Used for the delivery and supply of goods from the ships on the Oudegracht.
(caption of the historic photo from 1929, just before the date of this etching).

Concerns the old building in number 2 where there is now a very modern building, which is featured in many phoos.

The majority of Hendrikus IJkelenstam’s body of work are naturalistic painted still lifes. 
He also made portraits and city views and was a gifted graphic artist. 
He was educated at the Rijksschool voor Kunstnijverheid in Amsterdam and subsequently at the Hoofdstedelijke Rijksacademie. IJkelenstam made a few study trips to, amongst others, France, Spain and Italy. 
He was awarded several times for his work both in The Netherlands and Belgium, and in France. 
Hendrikus IJkelenstam was a member of the Amsterdam art societies 'De Onafhankelijken', 'St. Lucas' and 'De Brug'.
