Description
A charming Chinese porcelain saucer from the Kangxi period (1662–1722), decorated in underglaze cobalt blue. The central medallion depicts a scholar within a landscape, a theme closely associated with the cultured scholar’s world of contemplation and refinement.
From the center radiate eight alternating cartouches along the sides, each panel showing either a scholar in a landscape or a landscape with a small house or hut.
