Burmese palm leaf manuscript Pe Sar. 19th century Gilded from the outside and placed between bevelled wooden binding bords, these manuscripts were made in Mandalay in the 19th century and contain several hundreds palm leafs of precisely incised discrete Buddhist texst on a variety of topics. The Buddhist canonical scriptures are called Tpitaka and include monastic codes of diciple, sermons and stories with doctrinal content and texst with philosophical speculations, written in the Pali language in the late 1st century CE in Sri Lanka. Mandalay was and still is Burma's cultural and religious center and was in the 19th century the largest exporter of Buddhist manuscripts in the Pali language. Send with UPS
