A highly attractive and uncommon Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 5500 from 1962, presented in a rare and sought after Explorer configuration.

This example features a black dial with the iconic 3-6-9 layout, offering the unmistakable Explorer aesthetic within a more compact and elegant 34mm Oyster case. The dial displays a beautiful, clean appearance with strong contrast and excellent legibility, further enhanced by the “Swiss – T < 25” signature at 6 o’clock.

While this configuration is fully in line with early vintage Rolex Explorer design language, The dial is believed to be a service dial, likely replaced during its lifetime. No official service documentation is available. The hands appear to be in matching condition with the dial.
