Pāua (specifically Haliotis iris) are New Zealand abalone known for their intensely iridescent, rainbow-coloured shells—a mix of vibrant blue, green, and purple. These marine molluscs are prized for their edible meat and shells, which are used in jewellery and decorative inlay work.
